20 Goal Ylvisaker Cup 2013 in Wellington Florida

Coca Cola Wins 20 Goal Ylvisaker Cup in 2013
It’s a brisk Sunday afternoon in February where the 20 Goal Ylvisaker Cup is playing at the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington Florida. The flowering shrubs and green manicured fields bring the soul to a stop as the polo season gets underway. The Polo Club is celebrating 10 years in this location down Pierson and next to Isle Carroll fields on 120th street where you can follow the horse signs to the new premier club. But Polo has been around for much longer in Wellington.
Sugar Erskine
In 1978, the late founder of Palm Beach Polo and Country Club, William “Bill” T. Ylvisaker began the tradition. He was a smart businessman and a respectable polo player reaching 7 goals. His idea to build a top rate community where people could live and surround themselves with horses is living proof how land and landscapes such as these can be preserved.  With his development of Wellington he began the custom where every year some of the best Polo Players in the world congregate for 4 months to play high goal polo in Palm Beach.  Polo has been a fixture here now for 35 years.
The International Polo Club Palm Beach holds matches every Sunday at 3PM throughout the season. The games on other days however, are less formal. One can drive to a field set up a chair, watch field side; and then be off to another game on another field two hours later.
